Trump Didn’t Drain the Swamp. He Monetized It.
Old news but was in my drafts
Let’s call it what it is — corruption wrapped in a red hat.
The Trump administration has been piggybacking off insider information, family networks, and backdoor deals to enrich itself in plain sight. And there’s a big difference between running an existing business and creating new ones designed to profit from laws your own family writes.
We’ve seen this movie before — but never this bold.
The Business of Politics
Past presidents, like Jimmy Carter, sold off their peanut farms to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. Presidents used to divest because they understood one basic truth: you can’t serve the public while secretly profiting from it.
But Trump didn’t divest. He doubled down.
Since returning to power, his family has moved quickly to position themselves around emerging regulations — especially in crypto and digital assets.
Take World Liberty Financial — a newly formed company linked to Trump’s sons, Eric and Don Jr. This outfit has launched a stablecoin and made holdings in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other cryptocurrencies. That’s not just business opportunism — it’s legislation-driven profit.
Trump’s administration has signaled favorable treatment toward stablecoin projects and crypto-friendly regulation — and wouldn’t you know it, his own family is right there, ready to cash in.
This isn’t about ideology or innovation. It’s about writing the rules to make yourself rich.
The $192 Million Trade
Thirty minutes before President Trump announced his 100-percent China tariffs — an announcement that slammed the stock market and sent Bitcoin straight down — one wallet on Hyperliquid opened a massive Bitcoin short. Not a small play. Hundreds of millions in notional value.
Then the news hits, markets tank, and that short walks away with roughly $150 to $190 million in profit. The trade is real. The timing is real. The profit is real.
What we don’t know is who did it. Analysts point to a trader known as “Garrett Bullish,” who denies insider trading and denies any connection to Trump’s circle. Fine.
But let’s be honest: a perfectly timed mega-short landing minutes before a policy shock? That’s not luck. That’s someone acting on information the public didn’t have.
And because it’s crypto derivatives — a regulatory gray zone — no one in power seems eager to investigate. If an ordinary American tried this stunt, they’d be in handcuffs. But when it happens around Trump’s orbit? Everyone suddenly develops amnesia.
This is why people are furious. The rules only seem to apply to the people without power. The insiders get rich. The rest of us get the fallout.
I’m not buying the coincidence theory. And neither should you.
The Pattern Is Clear
From foreign business deals that created clear conflicts of interest, to the Trump family’s new crypto venture World Liberty Financial, to conveniently timed financial moves that lined up a little too neatly with public policy decisions — the pattern is the same. Political power gets used to shape markets, and the people in the inner circle are positioned to profit.
That isn’t governing. It’s self-dealing.
What makes it even worse is how desensitized the country has become to it. We watch obvious profiteering like it’s entertainment. We shrug at conflicts of interest because it’s “our side” cashing in.
A democracy cannot function when public office becomes a family business.
What Happened to Public Service?
Once upon a time, the presidency was about public service. It wasn’t supposed to be a money-making operation. You weren’t supposed to launch new companies around emerging regulations you yourself created.
Now, we’ve got a president openly using his platform to move markets and an inner circle that appears to be trading on that information.
If this doesn’t outrage you, it should. Because if this is the new standard, then every future president will treat the Oval Office like a venture capital firm — and every policy will be a business opportunity for the people in power.
That’s not America. That’s oligarchy.
And if we don’t call it out now, it’ll be the norm. Maybe it already is.

Thanks you for responding , and you are probably right, I'm sure we do agree on far more than we disagree. My wife made a valid point the other day and it was directed at what you just said about blind loyalty. She said that the 2 party system has become more of a dividing force than a way for people to come together and debate topics openly and honestly without fear of someone attacking you in pure hatred. I feel especially on the left it seems that , whether by design or purely just accident, there is this disdain or disgust that exists. Whenever a person tries to have a civil debate over topics that are important to all of us or simply just displaying a political shirt, hat or flag that depending on the location , that person should have genuine worry about a possible attack either verbal or physical. Don't get me wrong there is crazies in all parties, but you should agree, that the radical left is ripe with those cut from a different cloth. and not for the better! Now back to my wife, she said that maybe we need to lose the reds and blues the Rs and Ds, the elephants and donkeys and vote on the content of a person's character. I believe that's what MLKJR said something to the effect that one day men will be judged not by the color of their skin but the content of their character. Well same here, maybe Presidents, and the rest of them as well , should be elected based on their character, moral compass, and the platform they stand behind. Too many votes are cast in hatred rather than our children's future. She is definitely on to something there. Obviously being a Democratic Republic the parties are built right in to the name. This would also open the door for a 3rd candidate to join without the other parties trying to sabotage their ability to be placed on a ballot. I mean We the People are supposed to be in charge of this process not some unelected bureaucrat thats part of the blind loyalty squad. Anyways I'm rambling, something to think about if only it was doable but change is hard to create when the seeds of hate and evil are imbedded so deeply. Anyways thanks again, and I know you're not a journalist per se, but I would say you have more integrity than alot of them these days!!! Feel free to reach out if you want some honest input from "across the aisle" lol. Good day to you!
So if I was a liberal I would just yell at you for making a point that I disagree with but since I am not, I am a strong Conservative, I will engage in clean discourse to make MY point to you!
First off I agree with your point on insider knowledge. Trump is very , very smart and he also doesn't have a filter or necessarily know when he should keep his mouth closed. So with that maybe he did, or someone close to him, said something about the china tariff plans.
That's all speculative.
There is a very small percentage, albeit growing rapidly, of people that follow crypto in comparison to the stock market, so something like this could go without notice to the vast majority.
Now my argument comes with the fact that you say Trump has monetized the Presidency, not true, the Presidency or rather the entire American political system was monetized a long time ago. If you follow the stock market then you would notice the direct correlation between Biden getting involved with the Ukraine conflict and the influx of US defense stocks and ETFs that were purchased just prior to his announcement of our involvement. I had a sneaking suspicion of this the minute I heard about Russian troop mobilization. I knew with the backdoor dealings with Hunter and Joe and burizma that there was a good chance he would get involved if Russia invaded. So I took that suspicion and bought into 6 large defense stocks. Well needless to say those stocks all skyrocketed the moment Joe announced our involvement.
In conclusion I just want to say. I don't agree with Trump on every decision, but I do believe he is making the right moves to free us from the burden of excess foreign aId, the big shaft we have been getting from all these countries sticking it to us with tariffs and now we are getting what's rightfully ours after years of Democrat knee bending to every nation on Earth. Illegal Immigration about killed us and his actions on that front are great. Unfortunately Democrat gaslighting has given a lot of armchair social justice idiots the balls to confront agents and obstruct official business. That's not smart ever. Not with ICE or any law enforcement. So I really don't have remorse for Idiocracy. You may not agree with his methods, but you can't deny that the Biden importing of illegals created a world of problems for America. There are numerous interviews with radical Muslim leaders talking about their plans to infiltrate the American political system via the exploitation of Liberal Democrat politicians and "useful idiots" spreading of propaganda that is dangerous and detrimental to the safety of the nation. Look at MN , it's been overun by Somalis that are stealing from our pockets , yours included, and already using unconstitutional voting tactics to akew elections in favor of very bad candidates, I think you know which ones I am referring to. But anyways a little off topic but in conclusion I would just say that in order to be an impartial journalist you should mention the fact that we had 12 years or Democrat control that was full of corruption, big government wasteful spending , and above all else insider trading and what I call "money laundering via proxy war" If you really look back at the Democrat party vs the Republican party you can see a definite position swapping as far as core values goes. Today's Dems are not the Dems of our parents and grandparents. My parents core values from back then are more aligned with the Republican party. Feel free to reach out if you want to discuss anything further. It's obvious you do research with your posts and that's commendable especially today, but your ommision of the facts I spoke about could lead those that don't know to assume Trump did this maliciously, if he did at all, and that this had never happened before in our government. God Bless!
