interesting choice of performers you highlighted. Also - Prince was 2007 - thats almost 20 years ago. MJ 33 years ago. Let's be real though. If you didnt like those artists you likely didnt enjoy the show. Then again - I'm no Lady Gaga fan by any stretch but sound her very entertaining. Dont think ive seen one since that was worth my breath.

hahah. Man those were off the top of my head. But you inspired me to rank my favorite half time shows. And come on MJ was fucking amazing. Like epic. Prince is a GOAT. Oh and i forgot about Bruno Mars. Talented dude. TBH i never watch any of these people before usually and the first time is the half time shows.

Great article John. I really liked how you didn't take one side or the other, but actually looked at it an introspective growth perspective. Knowing how your life change from when you're a younger girl, listen to the Rolling Stones too watching your kids were up to being a grandfather and having a different outlook of what you want to be portrayed to your family. Also the self-discipline and control to audit what you listen to and also make life changes to be in the environment that you want. I really appreciate what you wrote. Thank you for sharing.

Yes to this 👏🏾 It's crazy how narrow the idea of who can claim to be American is. It goes to show these folks didn't listen in history class and forgot how diverse the USA actually is. Also I actually wrote a post sharing 10 reasons why his performance was so iconic and I hope you enjoy it - https://open.substack.com/pub/alyssareynosomorris/p/10-reasons-why-bad-bunnys-super-bowl?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=i0pr0

I don’t think it’s fair to chalk up all of the criticism as bigoted small minded outrage. It seems pretty obvious Bad Bunny was picked because of the controversy (and subsequent attention) it would cause in the current political climate, and not necessarily because his music is something viewers recognize and enjoy.

I would expect the majority of Americans to be confused, or indifferent at best, if the Super Bowl halftime show were being headlined by some K-pop group they hadn’t heard of and couldn’t understand. Not because they are bigoted/racist, but because it’s completely understandable that people care more entertainment that means something to them than they do about engaging in some arbitrary litmus test of benevolence and righteousness.

Sorry. Lastly. It's also really hard to argue that there isn't an alternative agenda when turning point USA has a competing halftime show because this one is unAmerican.

Also, I will say that this happens every year. And that's part of the point of the article. Is that every year you have to make something up about the Super Bowl halftime show. But it seems that there's only outrage when it's Kendrick Lamar or Snoop Doggy Dogg and now Bad Bunny. Is that manufactured?

The Angry Democrat's avatar

Thank you for that. I did allude to that in the article that it was manufactured. For the end of the article I said that most Americans don't care. And yes, I do feel that this is manufactured our outrage because it will bring eyeballs to the halftime show. What that said the dominant narrative against Bad Bunny being up there isn't that hey I wish that it was somebody else it is from a negative place. Again, could that be manufactured? Of course.

Although I do agree that every year there’s something controversy about the halftime show, it’s pretty clear you know nothing about what true American’s think. There’s nothing wrong with embracing other cultures but when you have an Artist that has come out and bashed our country and then gets the privilege of headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show, it’s extremely disrespectful to those Americans who love their country as I do.

It’s hard to fathom why any American would embrace this but I guess since you are the “Angry Democrat”, it’s not very surprising. One thing is for sure, this WOKE agenda is hurting our country more than people realize and it is refreshing to see people finally pushing back against it.

p.s. Thank you for taking the time to read it

Thank you for the comment. The one thing I will push back on is what you think my name means.

Zionist are racist AF, that’s for sure. Got entire countries thinking it’s non-Zionist white conservatives are out here being vocal about something they’re not even watching.
